A few years back, the Tecnoglass ESWindows Foundation, in an effort to improve the quality of life of the business community, started an entrepreneurship program with its employees, in addition to all other social initiatives and programs already in action, such as scholarships and home improvement.
This program consists in promoting the creation of microenterprises dedicated to the commercialization and sales of our products. This management strategy is accompanied with marketing, sales and accounting training. It is also provided legal and financial assistance for the incorporation of these microenterprises.
With this program, we intend to add income to our employees’ pockets, while we reach deeper into the market, obtaining a wider coverage of our products from Energia Solar. We expect to reach every neighborhood in the city, state, and country. At the same time, we guarantee a longer, more productive work life for those employees forced to retire.
Our flagship product for this project is our line of ECOMAX windows, which were specifically created to attend to the necessities of the disadvantaged segment of the community, as part of the social contribution of the company.
SPONSORSHIP FOR WORKER’S CHILDREN
We sponsor 14 school-aged children from our corporation’s personnel.
We take on home improvement projects for our operational workers, laying floors and building walls. Many of them are currently suffering from the consequences of recent storms, and have been unable to complete their home due to money issues.
We collaborate with a variety of social initiatives in our city, improving the quality of life of its inhabitants.
THANKS TO ALL OF THOSE WHO MAKE THIS PROJECT POSSIBLE, WE CONTINUE TO BE COMMITED TO THE SOCIAL DEVELOPMENT AND IMPROVEMENT OF THE QUALITY OF LIFE IN OUR CITY, COMMUNITY AND OUR WORKERS.
The Foundation has an internal program called “We reward your fidelity” aimed at workers from Tecnoglass and Energía Solar. It performs household improvement projects that will improve the quality of life of the workers, since they are the key element for the growth of our organization.
The selection is made taking into account years worked, a report from a social worker that evaluates the worker’s immediate family’s condition, and feedback from Human Resources and their direct supervisor.
Up until today, 29 home improvement projects have been executed, each with an investment of 10 million Pesos. The program will continue during 2013.
Always pursuing excellence, we have a “University Scholarships” program, directed towards workers and their sons.
When choosing the candidates, we take into consideration their grades, scores in national pre-university exams (ICFES), performance at work, seniority, general behavior during their work life, comments from their immediate supervisor, and results from the professional fields tests performed internally.
It is important to mention that the Foundation requires an average grade of 4.0 and higher, in order to retain the scholarship, and encourages the pursuit of excellence.
Up until 2012, we were sponsoring 52 students with scholarships in universities located In Barranquilla, such as “Universidad del Norte”, “Autónoma del Caribe”, “Libre”, “CUC”, “CUL”, “Metropolitana” and “Simón Bolívar”.
A very important issue for the well being of our workers is recreation. Included in our social responsibility policies, we have as an objective to promote the healthy channeling of the competitive spirit and contributing to the integral education process.
To make this happen, we invested 600 million Pesos to build a sports complex, which allows more than 3000 Tecnoglass, ES Windows and Alutions employees to enjoy regulation-sized soccer and softball fields that are to be used in inter-company tournaments as well as internal ones.
Currently, we are expanding the Sports Complex, building a second soccer field to successfully cover provide with more recreational space, as is required by the community.
TECNOGLASS-ES WINDOWS FOUNDATION VOLUNTEERING
In 2011, Tecnoglass-ES Windows created the Volunteering program, with the objective of rising awareness and creating social responsibility in members of the administrative staff of Energía Solar, Tecnoglass and Alutions, stimulating a sense of belonging towards the Foundation.
